Hope everyone is thawing out! What an incredible ice storm, and it is not letting up for some of our friends
in other states. There have been some slow days but I always resort to, "at least we are not snowed in like some businesses." Can you imagine not being able to run to the store for weeks. I for one am glad I'm in the deep south where snow is only an occasional happening.
Since we are a small business, progress sometimes comes a little slow. Just this year, we started a mystery
block of the month, by Pat Sloan called "Globetrotting" . It is a vacation of scenic places that are stitched out into blocks to form a quilt. We had the informational class and are ready to start the journey. We did
find out that most everyone would like a hands on quilt class. So we will have a beginner quilt class to help
you put your blocks together.
If you go to the website www.sewbizz.net you will see the heading for "Globetrotting Block of the Month".
The first and second block is already up and ready to print out. If you look through her materials, you will click on Flickr to see the various blocks everyone has already shown. They are very interesting how that
each person used their fabrics. Since our quilting friends have retired, we can only start new and as beginners. So we shall start this journey together and learn new skills. By the way, I did find out the quilt
is 60"x 60" (but you may make it larger with borders), the center block is the largest and has 10" blocks
around it.
I hope we will have some online quilters join us and show us how the interpret their blocks. It is a free
download and anyone may join. If you would like to come to the class, it will be a week day, as well
as, a Saturday class. Just check the website for information or call the shop, 205.655.7060
Happy Sewing,
Carol
