Thanksgiving Holiday Notices

We hope everyone gets to spend time with family, friends and of coarse...eating!  There are several things on our plate that are upcoming events. First and foremost will be our holiday hours. During  the Thanksgiving Holidays we will be closed Nov. 26th thru 28th, and will reopen on Monday, Nov.30th. We have several sales on going during those dates. Brother has started their sales early, Nov 17th - 27th, so you do not miss the dates. As far as Bernina sales, with a small deposit, will be run through on Friday, the day of the sale.

November is our last month this year to hold classes. During the month of December we will only take one on one private classes. We will resume our full schedule of classes in Jan.2010. We are already planning exciting classes for the new year. There will be future information about all the classes.

There has been a lot of excitment about all the new products ready for the Christmas season. Here are a few:

The new Sewing Starter Kit and the Starter Kit for the new PR650 Embroidery Machine are now available.
The brand new Stand/Table for the new PR650  Embroidery Machine are also available for order.

You must see the new state of the art applique tool. The Bernina Cutwork Software that actually cuts out the applique for you. No more uneven  edges around your appliques. It is a foot that fits on your Bernina sewing  machine and with the software it cuts out the applique or cutwork. A great Christmas present for the creative sewer.

So you see these are just a few new and exciting products at Sew Bizz. For more information please call or come by today!

October's Activities

We had a great month in October . The first 2-day seminar was by Dakota Collectibles,  Educator Virginia Hankins. We used  the software, AlphaSizer, to build our design on a gift bag which was completly stitched in the hoop. We had a great time and it everyone loved the project.

Last week we enjoyed Suzanne Shelton, "Olivia Anne Designs" 2-day seminar. The first day was an introduction to applique. The second day we did "Nelson", which was an appliqued pumpkin. We now have all Suzanne's books, appliques and kits. The great thing about Olivia Anne's Designs are that they are ready to stitch, no fusing of parts, no fuss or mess. Her appliques are great for quilts, wall hangings, purses, and sweatshirts. As a teacher, Suzanne was very thorough and patient. Everyone had fun and finished their project.

Sew Bizz will invite Suzanne back for another "Intro to Applique" in January 2010. Then in February, we will begin the "The Barnyard Quilt" as a hand's on class. We will take the first eight people. Each month we will have a new block to work on. So hurry and sign up. You will not want to miss her class.

New Links and New Wish List

Today a new link page has been added. Several of these links are just fun, most have free designs and some will lift you to a higher place. So much of sewing is a learning experience, especially a trial and error method, so a day without a new wrinkle in our brain is a day wasted.

Thank goodness a place that wrinkles won't be used against us!

Also, if you have created an account, you more than likely saw the wish list. Guess what, I too, have found it! When I created the website, I put everything that was important to most of us and the wish list was part of that. Who knew I'd forget? So now that you know, use it as a way of keeping up with those notions you run out of, or a way to let your friends and spouse know it's getting close to your birthday. Hope this helps make life a little easier.

Happy Sewing

Updating Fabric on Sew Bizz Online Store

If you haven't checked out the web site lately, you are in for a big treat. MORE FABRIC !!! We are working hard to get all of our products on the web site so that you can just look up the new fabrics and order the amount you want. We do ask for your patience as it is very time consuming, but we are determined to get everything that is in the store on the web site.

June's classes are up on the calendar. We have several new classes, such as, Foot Notes. This is a class for Brother and Bernina feet, but could apply for most sewing machine feet.

We have several promotions going on for June. OESD has a Spring Collection available for FREE, if you shop with us and spend at least $50, a value of $75. We have a large selection of OESD and Sulky stabilizers, by the yard and by the roll.

We have a special discount on all feet during our class on Foot Notes. You will be amazed at the different uses for some of your feet.

Sew Many Designs has a new Spring collection. It is called, Song of Spring 5x7 designs. It has a cute Lady Bug that goes great with some of the new lady bug fabric.

Lots and lots of new patterns, such as Pink Fig. We have just about all of their patterns. Wendy Schoen, Dasiey May, has new packaging and is back in stock.

Hurry and come see all the new "stuff". Hope to see you soon.

Oh by the way, we are up to date on all machine repairs. There is a quick turn around at present. If you need to know how fast you can get your machine back, just call the number for the tech on the web site and he will answer. How great is that!!
Keep Stitching,
Carol

New Fabrics

We just want to take a moment to thank all of our customers that came out to see the trunk show by Joy Welsh, "Applique for Kids" with her great embroidery designs. It was neat to see all of you so excited over the garments. Most of the fabrics you saw used in these garments are now available at Sew Bizz. Hope you enjoy seeing them, but why not come in and see them up close..

These are two of the samples for the new classes which are both a knock off of the boutique fashions you see in the magazines. One has a round neck and the other is a square neck.
Go to the calendar at http://www.sewbizz.net/ to see the dates for the classes
Here is a garment made by a Michie' pattern using some of the new fabrics.
Hope to see you soon. Keep stitching,
Carol

Twitter

Twitter is new to me, but all my friends say it is a must! So today I'm, updating my website, blogger, My Space, Twitter and did I leave any out? Oh yes, Face book, which will be done shortly or NOT. Computer's are suppose to make life faster, easier but to be honest, I could have made a jacket or stitched out a design by now. I do resent computers a little but we must stay up with the times. I'm not sure what I'm doing with all this technology, but I'm having fun learning it.

Sorta like learning the first computerized sewing machine or sewing software. Ahh, now there's a challenge. Who out there remembers the first Paduca software party? Any oldie but goodies reading? Well, let me tell you we stood Japan on it's ear. Why are they meeting to play with our software, they asked? They even sent Mr.M to see and did he ever. He went home with all the buzzz! We were designing with little or no tools. By gosh it was almost as comparable as "the time we went to the moon without a computer mapping the way", well not exactly but you get the idea. And now the progress that has been made is incredible. Truly this is the information age.

New Products

First an apology!
I'm new at this blogging, so yes it's been awhile, but I promise to try my best to stay on top of blogging.

New topics today includes new Brother products and deals, new Bernina products and deals, Appliques for Kids Trunk Show and Classes. These are just a few:

All the garments are simply beautiful. I hope you don't miss this trunk show by Joy Welsh, Appliques for Kids. All of her embroidery designs stitch out perfect and they match the fabric so well. We do have design packets, but you can also go to her website. We have most of the fabrics so you can make your very own one of a kind garment or duplicate the same garment. Hurry as this trunk show will be leaving for another part of the country soon. And there is nothing like seeing them up close.

MARY LOU NALL'S CLASS

Recently Mary Lou Nall came to the store and we had excellent participation! Mary Lou has been doing her classes for some 40 years. And, boy she really knows her stuff! She held four classes and everyone was so excited to learn about the sewing machine feet and what to do with them. Since most of you have shown an interest in learning more, we will start a new class called "Foot Notes". It will be like the classes that Mary Lou gave in that they will be lecture demo. So no need to bring a machine. It will start in May. So check it out on the events calendar.

OESD

New from OESD is the "Spring Collection" and just like the collection at Christmas, if you purchse $50, you get the embroidery disk FREE! The disk is valued at $75, and it's a variety of spring designs. Be sure to come by the store and look at the samples.
BONNIE BLUE
Bonnie Blue has two new patterns and a remake of Lauren.
Bailey Boy's Magazine
We have two new classes in May for the "look" of the popular boutique garments, one with a square collar and one with a round collar.
Cargo Pants
This coming month in May, we will offer a class using Pintucks & Petticoats, "Luke" to make this adorable pair of pants. It can be for girls and boys.
Monthly Purse Class
Last month was huge success! Everyone loved the "Swing Purse" by Am Butler. Go to the photo gallery and check out all the different looks from just one pattern. This coming month we will make the 2Hr.Tulip Purse. Hopefully, I get a picture of it so you can see how cute it is. There are four sizes on one pattern.
EMBROIDERY CLUB
Everyone loved April's class where they made the Topsey Turvy Kitchen Towel. In May there will be hands on embroidery class to learn the steps of cutwork. You can go to the events calendar to see the seven times it will be offerred.
