Time is flying by like a freight train! Can you believe it's June, almost half the year has gone by. The old saying, time flies when you are having fun. And we really do at SEW BIZZ. If you are feeling down and don't know what to do with yourself, come in and try a new hobby, or a new pattern. Better yet, why not update your old sewing machine. Did you know we give classes on your new sewing machine for as long as you have that machine? And if you trade up within the first 6 months, you get full credit from your machine and pay only the difference between the retail price of the new machine! So you can't loose, come in and look at the latest machines.

If you noticed the calendar for June you will see it better by going to the website www.sewbizz.net
Take a closer look at the show dates for the Quilt Symposium 2012, Celebrate Quilting, presented by the Evening Star Guild of Birmingham. There will be quilt show - classes - vendors, at the old Hoover High School Freshman Campus - now Bumpus Middle Show located at 6055 Fleming Parkway, Hoover, Alabama. Everything Applique Conference Ap 28th 8:30 to 4:30 BJJC

We will be a vendor at the Everything Applique Conference at the BJCC - East Hall or Rooms on April 27th for a Meet & Greet of all the attendees. On Saturday 28th, our Brother area will be open for business. We will have lots of deals and product for sale. Myself and Pat Pike will be there with handouts and free "stuff". Be sure to go to our Facebook page for Sew Bizz and like us and there will be something special for you when you come by the booth. Details have been sketchy, we know, but this is the first time for these girls.

It reminds me when around 60 of us ladies gather in a little hotel in Paducah, about 1995/1996, when Brother first came out with PE Design. There was June Mullinger,Penny, Ann, Cookie, myself and coworker Mary Smith and lots of others that met and devoured the new exciting software. We had so much fun putting names and faces together, known only by our computer names, "Annthegran, or Cookiemonster"! I truley hope this is the beginning of something big! The foundation of people that met and shared information back then became so large that it had to be held in Vagas! Does anyone remember when? It grew and grew, then changed hands (several times, I think)and names. Let's face it, it is a huge undertaking. There is still a reminant left that will be holding a conference in Marrietta, Georgia this weekend, The American-Embroidery Conference April 25th -29th.  WOW a whole week, could you stand it!! And as we go to support this group of talented ladies, we wish them great success. Who knows where they will all end up!

New Products

First an apology!
I'm new at this blogging, so yes it's been awhile, but I promise to try my best to stay on top of blogging.

New topics today includes new Brother products and deals, new Bernina products and deals, Appliques for Kids Trunk Show and Classes. These are just a few:

All the garments are simply beautiful. I hope you don't miss this trunk show by Joy Welsh, Appliques for Kids. All of her embroidery designs stitch out perfect and they match the fabric so well. We do have design packets, but you can also go to her website. We have most of the fabrics so you can make your very own one of a kind garment or duplicate the same garment. Hurry as this trunk show will be leaving for another part of the country soon. And there is nothing like seeing them up close.

MARY LOU NALL'S CLASS

Recently Mary Lou Nall came to the store and we had excellent participation! Mary Lou has been doing her classes for some 40 years. And, boy she really knows her stuff! She held four classes and everyone was so excited to learn about the sewing machine feet and what to do with them. Since most of you have shown an interest in learning more, we will start a new class called "Foot Notes". It will be like the classes that Mary Lou gave in that they will be lecture demo. So no need to bring a machine. It will start in May. So check it out on the events calendar.

OESD

New from OESD is the "Spring Collection" and just like the collection at Christmas, if you purchse $50, you get the embroidery disk FREE! The disk is valued at $75, and it's a variety of spring designs. Be sure to come by the store and look at the samples.

This coming month we will make the 2Hr.Tulip Purse. Hopefully, I get a picture of it so you can see how cute it is. There are four sizes on one pattern.

Products and website

We are working very hard getting all our products listed, so please be patient. Our November calendar is up and classes will start to end about the middle of the month and pick back up January 2009. The new circular ruler, The Cut A Round, is a must for the new Taylor Made Retro Apron Book. We want to do a class in November so if there is an interest let us know. It would be a perfect gift for someone that is hard to buy a present for at Christmas. Check all the apron books out on the website.
